Satellite Technology Advancements Including Starlink
Presenter: Blad Stavropoulos, Intellian
With the emergence of Starlink into the marine market, existing technologies are ever changing to adapt. This session overviews the many satellites up in orbit around Earth and the functions they serve for maritime space as well as how manufacturers use specific satellites for communications. Learn how knowing the function and location of satellites can help in your day-to-day installations and troubleshooting of marine electronic equipment that rely on satellites to function properly.
CNC Router Machines
Presenter: Mike Reimer International Marine
A retrofit installation on an older vessel usually requires a new dash panel. NMEA member companies are gaining experience with using their own CNC machines to create custom dash panels based on the MFD display layout and customer preference. Learn the ins and outs of getting started doing this at your shop.

Trolling Motors and lithium batteries are not just for bass and bay boats anymore! This technology is moving into larger center consoles and vessels over 40 feet. Learn how to incorporate these systems into your customers’ boats by hearing from a panel of experts consisting of motor manufacturers, battery manufacturers, and installers.
Hands-On Connectors & Tools
Presenter: Kevin Boughton- NMEA CMET, Midcoast Marine Electronics
This hands-on installer session will allow you to master the art of properly fitting widely used field installable connectors from expert installers. Learn the best practices to professionally install field attachable connectors including PL259, RJ45, NMEA 2000, and F Connectors onto their respective cables. Attendees can witness expert installers attach these various connectors onto their specific cables and will also get to install these cables on their own as guided by the instructor. The session will also focus on diagnostic and testing tools that have been identified by expert installers and technicians to specifically troubleshoot and test certain pieces of marine electronic equipment. This hands-on session invites audience participation as instructors demonstrate and give an overview of how certain tools can help you quickly and effectively finish an installation or troubleshoot a problematic piece of equipment or cable. Inspection cameras, cable testers, Multi Meters, NMEA 2000 diagnostic software, VHF testers and label printers are some of the specialty products demonstrated.
DC Electrical Overview

This session will provide a basic understanding of the American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) basic electrical practices that a marine electronics installer must know before connecting DC power to any piece of marine electronic equipment. Topics covered include Ohms law, DC Wiring, Grounds, Batteries & Chargers.
